Ain't No Grave, Can Hold My Body Down...
Tomorrow is the day-- I leave bright and early for the Academy.
I will be there for roughly 3 weeks. No computer or phone, so we shall see how it goes. I am really striving to do well--I have set my mind to the fact that I will win at least one award while i am there. I hope I can do it.
I did find out that the unit I work with will be coming to watch me graduate. I was pretty excited to hear that they would be coming to show me their support. It just proved to me that they are an awesome group of people who really care about me. They have become like a second family to me, and I am really grateful to work with such wonderful people.
I am going to miss out on Easter, which has been really hard for me. I haven't missed a family holiday for as long as i can remember. The next few months will be really hard for me, I think. But I will make it through--what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger, right?
I am also annoyed that I will be missing my shows. haha! Pretty pathetic. In all honesty, the only show that I am really annoyed that I will be missing, is the season opener of The Deadliest Catch. I love that show--especially the boys of the Cornelia Marie. haha! :) I really like that Johnny Cash song, "Ain't no grave" that they play in the previews for the show this season. That song reminds me of my Grandpa Kukacka--he was always such a hard worker.
This blog post has gotten kind of out of control, so I better just end it here...
Have a fabulous Easter--talk to you all in 3 weeks. Hopefully I make it through the 3 weeks :)

Lessons in Hillbilly.
This week I learned that a "Holler" is a real thing. I will give you an example... The song "Coal Miner's Daughter" by Loretta Lynn goes a little something like this--
"Well I was born a coal miner's daughter. In a cabin on a hill in Butcher Holler....."
Now, i have always thought that a Holler was a fictitious thing. Like, some sort of hillbilly slang or something.
I was talking about this song at work, when i learned that a Holler is a real thing.
Apparently, a Holler is a narrow road that goes through the mountain valley--and if you were to holler while in the Holler, no one would hear you.
A Holler can also be a really steep narrow road that goes up the mountain side--basically a road so small and narrow that only one car can fit on it at a time.
I guess there are a bunch of Hollers near here. They include Possum Holler, Howell Holler, and Butcher's Holler.
My co-workers then informed me that in West Virginia there are also roads called "Runs." I guess those are roads that run next to the river or stream.
Please tell me that I am not the only one who didn't realize that a Holler was a real thing?

COAL Trailer
If you guys get the chance, you should all try and catch an episode of the new show on Spike called "Coal"
They take a film crew and go in the coal mines in McDowell County, West Virginia. I watched the first episode, and found it to be really interesting--i think you guys might like it. Not only that, if you watch an episode or two, you will kind of get the idea of what the terrain and lifestyle is like down here.
Check out the trailer.
